Having spent more than 15 years growing up in the Okanagan Valley, I have been so blessed to see the surrounding scenery and history that it holds. With my photography, it has long been a dream of mine to capture and showcase this beauty and the stories that such a historic area provide. This collection has been many years in the making and is a labor of my love for photography that I am so excited to finally begin to share with the world. With all of the images in this collection, I hope to inspire you to see the amazing history and stories that are hidden away within the beauty of the Okanagan, and even in your own area.
Fighting the Forest

Tucked away within in the woods I found this rugged cabin standing beneath the trees. This image was taken in the earliest months of winter, showing how harsh mother nature can be bringing the bitter cold so soon. I imagine how hard it must have been to withstand such a winter in the times when this small cabin was depended upon. Away from town, hidden in the forest and barren of any heat sources. The forest almost seems to be slowly claiming the cabin. Trees converge on all sides as these two in the foreground stand watching. As I myself watched this cabin, the trees pelted the roof with bombardments of snow from their branches. Broken limbs scattered the ground around the cabin, almost as if to fence it in. With the pathway overgrown and covered in snow, It almost seems as if the forest has won its battle, and claimed the cabin as its prize. What I find so hopeful about this story however, is how the cabin holds it's ground. It is not broken or battered by the trees and their attacks, nor does it seem to want to hide. It stands fearless against them, almost daring the trees to inch closer and test its strength. With a new light above the door, and some new connected power to heat its walls, it would seem that this cabin will fight on another winter in its stand against the forest.

Well Earned Rest

As the harvest comes to an end and the leaves fall, so begins winter's glow. Fall is a busy season for farmers that flies by as fast as these leaves turn color. With the unpredictable nature of winter and it's snow, I imagine this tractor is happy to be finished with his harvest. Tucked away for the winter, it's free to enjoy the sight of the first snowfall. I love the glow that it brings to the snow along with the remaining leaves. Red and orange blended together under the soft blanket of a fresh snowfall. Often winter waits for Fall to leave before arriving. But this scene shows such a harmony between the seasons. It is a show that rarely repeats itself, and I know that this tractor must have enjoyed the display of color and harmony just as much as I did myself.

Seasons of Matrimony

This scene has captured my eye numerous times as I've passed by it. Located away from almost everyone and everything, It's a shame that more people are withheld from seeing it themselves. Over this past year I have grown very fond of this particular area. This summer I lived the most incredible day of my life not a minute away from this very spot. It was my wedding day. This scene showcases that day perfectly, conveying the peace and serenity that my wife and I experienced on our special day in this very valley. And not long after I found myself here again to capture my sister's wedding, this time in the fall. When passing by on that day I was taken aback by this scene and how it had bloomed with a new beauty. Already so perfect in the summer months before, now it had exploded with yellows and browns with the autumn season. I love how this scene has come to life for me on my big day, as well as for my sister on hers. As I reflect on this image, I'm filled with joy as I remember the memories that this scene holds. No matter the season, this field, and the trees always show a perfect beauty that all comes together as one. As in a marriage, two become one, and this scene is for me a resemblance of that perfect matrimony.
